General Definition of Work This recruitment is for the purpose
of establishing an eligibility list for future anticipated
vacancies. Equipment Mechanic I Hiring Range: $20.94 -
New employees will normally be hired at the first step of the
salary range, depending on qualifications. Job Description:
Performs intermediate technical work maintaining and repairing a
variety of automotive and specialized equipment, performing
computer diagnostics and fabrication methods, maintaining records,
and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under
the limited supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
SPECIAL NOTE: May require non-standard schedule to include days,
nights, weekends, holidays and call back.
The ideal candidate will be able to perform maintenance/repairs on
light duty vehicles (passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUV's, van,
mini-busses, etc.) to include: replacing air, hydraulic and
anti-lock brakes, repairing transmissions; repairing light duty gas
and diesel engines, working on electrical systems, repairing
heating and cooling systems, and repairing steering and suspension
systems. They will also be able to perform repairs on ancillary
equipment typical of municipal fleets including: lifts, light bars
and lighting accessories. They should have experience
troubleshooting and have experience with newer computerized
diagnostic programs. A desire to learn/train on heavier duty
systems and fire trucks is strongly desired.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED and moderate
experience in automotive equipment maintenance, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of or ability to obtain Forklift
certification issued by a nationally recognized agency within one
(1) year of hire, based on assignment. Automotive Service
Excellence (ASE) Certification issued by the National Institute for
Automotive Excellence is preferred. National Incident Management
Systems (NIMS) training based on assignment.
Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for
Valid Arizona Driver License of appropriate class.
